Problem

Athletes were suffering without air conditioning during their basketball games.

Solution

They installed a 24-foot AirVolution-D 780 fan in the gym.

Result

The airflow from the fan is keeping both spectators and athletes comfortable during the hot Tennessee summers.

The Golden Eagles of Grace Baptist Academy were suffering without air conditioning in their multi-purpose gym during basketball games, summer camps, and other church and school activities. Tennessee summers can be hot and sticky, and facilities without air conditioning quickly become uncomfortable. The facility manager purchased floor fans, but they couldn’t create a cooling breeze throughout the 8,800 square-foot gym. This is where MacroAir fans came to the rescue. They were able to add a MacroAir HVLS ceiling fan in their school gym to beat the heat.

The gym is 110 feet long and 80 feet wide with a 27-foot ceiling. Air conditioning was out of the price range, so Grace Baptist Academy looked for alternative cooling solutions. MacroAir visited the gym and determined that a 24-foot AirVolution-D 780 would deliver the best solution. Maroon airfoils made the fan match the school’s color scheme and added an artistic element to the gym. A light kit was added to directly brighten the court during games and announcements from center court.

The students, parents, church members, and spectators all greatly appreciate the fan. The large fan blades deliver massive air columns that travel throughout the gym creating a cooling effect. Airflow promotes evaporative and convective cooling, keeping both the athletes and spectators comfortable during the hot Tennessee summers. The Golden Eagles are flying high on the breeze created by their MacroAir fan!
