3 Benefits of Fans with Temperature Control

Simplifying our lives with temperature automation has been a priority since the 1600s. Cornelis Drebbel, a Dutch innovator, invented a thermostat and used it to hatch chicken eggs. Today we have harnessed the power of the thermostat to not only simplify our life but also to make us more comfortable, increase efficiency, and save on electricity costs. Automated climate control systems for large diameter fans utilize thermostats. Thermostats act as temperature sensors to identify and dictate optimal operating speed and direction.

How Automated Fan Control Works

Automated fan control measures temperature and humidity at two points – the floor and the ceiling. This information is used to calculate the heat index. The heat index is the “feels like” temperature, not the actual air temperature. Based on the heat index, the automated fan speed control software identifies the best operating speed and direction. Then it runs the fans accordingly.

Using the automated fan control is as simple as selecting the desired temperature range and leaving it to do its work. When the temperature rises above the desired temperature range, the fans will automatically run in the forward direction and create a cooling effect. If the temperature drops below the desired temperature range, the automated fan control will run the fans in the reverse direction to redistribute the warm air overhead and eliminate hot and cold spots without generating a discernible breeze.

Benefits of Automating Your Fan Control:

1) No control adjustments

With automated fan control, you no longer need to disrupt your workflow to adjust the speed and direction of your fans. Automating the fan speed saves time and maintains a consistently comfortable environment.

You’ll be able to set the desired temperature and forget about it. No time will be wasted having to go and adjust the thermostat to get to that desired temp. What’s further, you are able to set the temperatures in up to four different zones within your building. The sensors will monitor the temps throughout the zones and run the fans accordingly. This means more time for you to get your work accomplished, and less time having to worry about maintaining your comfort level.

Additionally, your fans will run more efficiently than ever. They run when they need to cool your space, and when the temperatures are ideal, they will shut off automatically. This also means less strain on your motor unit, as the fan is only running when it needs to and at the speed, it needs to run. All you need to do is set it and forget it!

The Controller 30 with AirEffect to control the temperature comes standard with a fully integrated LCD touchscreen display panel. This display panel makes repairs quicker and easier with error codes and diagnostic capabilities. With this state-of-the-art technology and a remote, you have the ability to control the fan speed and direction of up to 30 fans. Control on/off, fan speeds, forward/reverse, and memory storage of the last used settings all with a touch of a button.

2) Optimized fan performance

Identifying the best speed and direction to operate your fans can be difficult, especially during the spring and fall seasons when the temperatures frequently fluctuate. The automation software calculates all of this for you and perfectly optimizes your fans’ performance for the current climate.

We offer optional control systems for the MacroAir Controller 30. The comfort control thermostat automatically maintains the room temperature. It gauges the heat index and measures the temperature and humidity between the ceiling and floor. Finally, it calculates each fan’s ideal fan speed and direction.

3) Savings on heating and cooling

If you pair your fans with air conditioning, the cooling effect created by the fans will enable you to set your thermostat higher while maintaining the same level of comfort. This combined with other building enhancements will cut down your costs

In the winter, the fans run in reverse to mix the heated air, eliminating hot and cold spots and decreasing your heating costs. In fact, fan automation on a power supply of 110-240v maximizes energy efficiency and ultimately lowers your energy costs, no matter the time of year.

Why We Do What We Do

Allow me to share a letter that MscroAir received from Ed Caswell, Facilities Maintenance Manager at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Lawton, Oklahoma.  Ed writes:

“I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for introducing me to MacroAir and their large fans. I installed six of the 24′ fans in our warehouse in front of the loading docks and I am very impressed with their performance. Since their installation several years ago, we have experienced both heating and cooling benefits of these fans. We are all pleasantly surprised with the volume of warm air the fans pull from the ceiling in the winter and the supply of cool air in the summer. I also like the energy efficiency and durability of your fans. Thanks again.”

That right there is why we do what we do! The benefits speak for themselves. Thanks to AirEffect temperature control, you can focus on your business, and let the fans regulate the temperature - easily.
